Anthony Perry didn’t let the danger stop him from saving a stranger’s life
A man acted quickly and fearlessly to save a life after spotting someone in danger on train tracks.
The incredible moment happened three years ago when Anthony Perry, just 20 years old at the time, arrived at his usual train station in Chicago and noticed a man who appeared to have collapsed onto the electrified tracks.
In a situation where most people might hesitate or panic, Anthony’s instincts kicked in immediately.
Without a second thought, he jumped onto the tracks and pulled the man to safety, preventing what could have been a tragic accident.
The individual, whose identity remains unknown, reportedly ended up on the tracks after a fight with another commuter.
The altercation left him nearly unconscious, and the other person fled the scene.
Despite feeling the jolt of an electric shock while on the tracks, Anthony didn’t let it deter him.
He managed to move the man to a safer area before beginning CPR with the help of a bystander who was also at the station.
One of the witnesses, Tavi Ghee, captured the entire event on video.
Reflecting on the incident, which occurred in June 2022, she described the experience as being almost ‘unreal’ when she spoke to 6 ABC Action News.

“That was an out-of-body experience,” Tavi added when recounting the rescue. Anthony, speaking about the moment he jumped into action, shared his thoughts as well.
“I was hoping I could just grab him and not feel nothing, but I felt a little shock,” he said, describing the experience of touching the electrified tracks. “I felt it all through my body actually. I didn’t let that stop me.”
The man who Anthony saved was taken to the hospital for treatment and was expected to make a full recovery, thanks to the young man’s bravery and quick thinking.
Anthony’s selfless act did not go unnoticed. Following the rescue, he was gifted a car by Chicago businessman and philanthropist Early Walker, which significantly shortened Anthony’s lengthy 90-minute commute to work.
While presenting the gift, Walker praised the young man, saying: “We need more Anthonys in the world.”
Chicago Police Lt. Yolanda Irving also commented on the inspiring rescue, stating: “So many times people think these young men are out here doing the wrong thing, but this is just a prime example of how a young man took it upon himself to jump in and do the right thing.”

Anthony himself reflected on the situation, adding: “Good always wins.”
Although Anthony’s actions were heroic, the Chicago Transportation Authority reminded the public of the risks involved in such situations. They advised calling 911 instead of attempting to intervene directly.
“They should never try to enter the right of way, or try to remove the person themselves, as they risk electrocution,” the authority emphasized in their warning.
